I plan to keep updating this post as I progress further into my journey at TCS. Here is a log of how it all started.
On Feb 27th, 2026, I registered for TCS Recruitment from the NextStep Portal. Many people had told me to apply for the TCS NQT, but I didn’t take it too seriously at first. Later, just a few days before the registration closed, Aman kind of insisted that I register on that day itself, so I did.
On March 13th, I got an email saying the exam was set for March 26th. My school friends and I had already planned a trip to Tirupathi, Arunachalam, and Pondicherry in the middle of March. Luckily, it didn’t clash with the NQT test. My school friend Shiva was also writing it. We went on the trip and got back on March 23rd.
We hadn’t prepared for NQT specifically much, but we had a good understanding of general CS concepts, did projects, and had attended interviews up until then. We both did well in the test. I did slightly better in the coding section, and he did slightly better in Aptitude.
On April 14th, I got an email for the Digital interview scheduled for April 22nd. Shiva also had an interview around this time period, but for the Prime role.
I went on the 22nd and had the interview on time. Because I had really good projects and past internship experience, they mostly asked from those and didn’t touch DSA at that time. The interviewer particularly asked about a core module from a project I did, UniScreen, and how I added human detection from the camera in that.
April 27th was a bit chaotic. I had one of my semester exams that day. At 10:40 AM, I got a mail titled “TCS Documents to be submitted,” specifying to send the documents by 1:00 PM the same day. Since I was writing my exam from 10 AM to 1 PM, I obviously didn’t see it in time. I rushed home afterward and sent the documents and included the reason for sending it late: “I sincerely apologize for submitting these documents after the 1:00 PM deadline. I was appearing for my Semester 4 examination from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM today…”
It all worked out, because on April 29th I got my TCS Offer Letter!
Right now, there is a lot to do in the Background Verification (BGV) process. I did my National Skills Registry (NSR) registration in May and applied for my passport in June. I will keep updating this post as I move forward with my onboarding and life in TCS.
